Service-Learning Leadership Institute Host

'The New Home of Youth Service California'
Excel Youth Zone (XYZ) was established in 2003 to engage youth and educators in community service-learning projects in classrooms and within after-school clubs. Youth-led teams work to design, explore, and experience service projects that meet community needs, develop leadership skills, build character, enhance academic skills, and advance youth development. XYZ facilitates state, national and international service-learning programs and initiatives with Global Youth Service Day, MLK Day of Service, Cesar Chavez Day, as well as, many others. XYZ partners with the California Department of Education’s California Regional Service-Learning Network to provide a full spectrum of service-learning expertise and technical assistance services to support K-12 students, educators and schools for the state of California. In 2010, Excel Youth Zone became the “New Home of Youth Service California” and is expanding its mission throughout the State of California, as well as, continuing new relationships with neighboring states to promote service-learning opportunities for youth.
