Service-Learning Showcase
The conference Showcase will be held Tuesday, February 8th from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the Event Center.
The Service-Learning Showcase is an opportunity to talk one-on-one with conference attendees and share your successes in your service-learning PROJECT or STRATEGY without taking on a full 60-minute workshop! If you have a high quality service-learning project or effective sustainability strategy and a powerful message to share, consider signing up today and no later than December 17, 2010.
Showcase Display Details:
§ Each project will receive a 60" round, skirted table in the center of The Event Hall. Dynamic displays usually include photos, lesson plans, rubrics, reflection activities, or other visual props that detail the service learning experience.
§ Each display table must be staffed at all times. We encourage youth participation in this role.
§ All participants are given two opportunities to present a 15 minute presentations in which to showcase their organization and/or product.
§ There are no electrical connections available. Battery-powered displays are permitted. Internet is available.
§ All displays must be able to be set up within a 1 hour time-frame, from 1:45pm – 2:45pm.
§ Showcase presentation must connect to the theme and at least one Focus Area or Program Interest.
Elements of a service-learning PROJECT showcase 15 minute session includes such things as ties to curriculum, reflection components, youth voice, community partnerships, and sustainability.
Elements of a service-learning STRATEGY showcase 15 minute session includes leadership, building capacity and sustainable practices and policies.
Use the spotlight to effectively describe the impact your program has had, and how the initiation is both unique and replicable for Institute attendees.
Presenters are able to apply for both a workshop and a showcase. All presenters are encouraged to register for the Institute and will be offered the presenter rate.
All applications must be received by December 17th. Applicants will receive notification by early January if their service-learning showcase has been selected as a candidate. Space is limited therefore not all applicants will be selected.
